You may wish to have a Reception after the Funeral has taken place. Some clients want a large function whilst others prefer a small gathering. Whatever your needs a Reception can be tailored to suit you. Provided below are some thoughts as to what to have and where to hold a Reception.

A Reception can be held at Home or another Private Residence. It could also be held in Building that has a Function Room (like a Golf Club or Queen Elizabeth Hall) or a Church Hall. Another possibility would be a Public House or Hotel. Thought should be given to convenience and accessibility. If there are some family members who are infirm, a venue suitable to your needs should be considered. Please seek advice from your Funeral Director.

The type of food to be served is also key. For instance, will you prefer a ‘sit down meal’ over a buffet? Previous experiences can have a major bearing on your choice. Some prefer the freedom a buffet gives, as Relatives and Friends are free to mingle, whilst a Funeral Meal could suit your needs for a more formal setting.

The type of food served will depend much on the venue. A variety of Venues can provide Meals and Buffets but this could be dependent on the time and season. Alternatively catering can be arranged for you. Just let your Funeral Director know your requirements, like hot or cold food, vegetarian and children’s menus.
